We can put more power into every postcode. We can let Britain believe again. We can bring back hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">It was a marked contrast to the downbeat pronouncements of Burnham\u2019s predecessor, Keir Starmer, who tended to accentuate the scale of the challenges Britain faced.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">After a string of missteps and local election defeats, Starmer was pushed out as leader by his own Labour Party just two years after winning a landslide 2024 election victory.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Britain\u2019s Prime Minister Keir Starmer leaves 10 Downing Street in London in January.
