On Wednesday, Nvidia Corp CEO Jensen Huang urged G20 leaders to embrace artificial intelligence infrastructure and adoption, warning that excessive fear or regulation could leave countries on the sidelines of the next major technological revolution.<\/p>\n
Jensen Huang’s ‘Single Worst Outcome’ Warning<\/p>\n
Speaking at the G20 Innovation Ministerial in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Huang said countries should view AI infrastructure as essential to their economies, much like electricity, roads and the internet.<\/p>\n
“Every single country needs to build infrastructure so that you can support your own local economy,” Huang said.<\/p>\n

He argued that local AI infrastructure can provide researchers, students, startups and industries with the computing power needed to develop new products and businesses.<\/p>\n
But Huang said the biggest risk is not necessarily AI itself.<\/p>\n
“The worst outcome is that you don’t take advantage of it, that you are left behind,” he said. “That is the single worst outcome.”<\/p>\n
“If we talk about the technology with fear, with uncertainty \u2026 with so much concern, so much fear,” the countries won’t be able to grow, he said. “It has to be balanced.”<\/p>\n

Huang said countries do not need to compete across every layer of the AI stack. Instead, governments should determine where they can best participate while encouraging AI adoption across education, health care, manufacturing, science and other industries.<\/p>\n

Large language models can become AI agents equipped with memory, retrieval capabilities and tools, eventually powering everything from robots and autonomous vehicles to manufacturing systems and scientific laboratories.<\/p>\n The Nvidia CEO said the U.S. is moving aggressively because of its energy policies, regulatory environment and speed of development, stating that nearly $1 trillion could be invested in U.S. infrastructure this year.<\/p>\n Jensen Huang Calls for Practical AI Regulation<\/p>\n Huang also pushed back against calls for broad AI restrictions, arguing that regulation should focus on measurable risks rather than hypothetical scenarios.<\/p>\n “Don’t regulate hypothetical theoretical harm, regulate actual and pragmatic harm,” Huang said.<\/p>\n He added that companies developing AI should take responsibility for making the technology safe while regulators focus on genuine problems.<\/p>\n Huang compared the approach to aviation.
