In the episode of the \u201cCivilek\u201d podcast released on Wednesday, the FIDESZ parliamentary group leader accused the TISZA government of undermining the foundations of democratic change and cracking down on a viable opposition alternative. J\u00e1nos B\u00f3ka said that FIDESZ Chairman Viktor Orb\u00e1n would continue to play a key role on the conservative, centrist political side in the future.<\/p>\n
In the podcast produced by the Civil Solidarity Forum Movement (C\u00d6F<\/a>), the politician accused the TISZA Party of running a \u201ccampaign of lies\u201d before the elections and now operating a \u201cgovernment of lies.\u201d He explained that the TISZA Party\u2019s communication strategy is based on the desire to \u201cwin every day\u201d; therefore, its message has neither lasting impact nor consequences, and each day and each statement stands on its own. As long as this \u201cbubble\u201d can be maintained, this system remains functional, he added.<\/p>\n J\u00e1nos B\u00f3ka did not deny that the TISZA Party\u2014just as FIDESZ-KDNP had done before it\u2014had the right to exercise its two-thirds majority; however, in his view, TISZA had engaged in \u201clawmaking outside the constitutional framework,\u201d which was unacceptable.<\/p>\n Regarding the term limits for the prime minister and members of parliament, he said:<\/p>\n The government undermines the foundations of democratic alternation when the majority uses legislation to dictate who is allowed to run against it in elections.<\/p>\n Even TISZA supporters themselves recognize that the current \u201cFacebook government\u201d will soon lead to serious problems and that their chances of political survival will diminish significantly from that point on. That is why the governing party is taking \u201cgiant strides\u201d toward ensuring, by that time, through legal, police, administrative, and judicial means, that there is no viable opposition alternative on the other side, he added.<\/p>\n At the same time, he emphasized that in the 2030 election, people can decide whether what began in 2026 should continue or whether there should be something different. The FIDESZ parliamentary group leader has made it his mission to ensure that<\/p>\n the civic, conservative, right-wing alternative comes across as appealing and enters the 2030 election with good prospects for success.<\/p>\n Viktor Orb\u00e1n has been a defining figure in this community over the past decades and remains so today, and that will continue to be the case in the future, he emphasized. The political and innovative abilities of the FIDESZ chairman, as well as the fact that he \u201clistens to and understands\u201d the visions we Hungarians have for our country\u2019s future, are not a burden but an asset to the party, said the parliamentary group leader.<\/p>\n He acknowledged that, under the current constitutional framework, Viktor Orb\u00e1n cannot run for a seat in Parliament in the 2030 elections nor be elected prime minister, but he promised:<\/p>\n should FIDESZ be given the mandate to change these rules, this would \u201copen up further possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n J\u00e1nos B\u00f3ka\u2014who served as Minister for EU Affairs in the previous government\u2014accused the TISZA government, in connection with the repatriation of EU funds, of having entered into an agreement whereby<\/p>\n the funds merely \u201cflow through Hungary\u201d but actually end up with foreign interest groups for specific purposes.<\/p>\n The \u201cCivilek\u201d podcast is produced by the nonprofit foundation \u201cCivil Union Public Benefit Foundation,\u201d founded in 2009, which organized several \u201cpeace marches\u201d in support of the FIDESZ-KDNP government between 2012 and 2026.<\/p>\n Related article<\/p>\n
