AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives,\u201d he wrote late Tuesday, with others from the company backing his message.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo not underestimate <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/30\/business\/openai-to-cut-off-ai-models-for-spacex-owned-cursor-escalating-feud-with-musk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the power of this technology.<\/a> These will soon be superhuman systems that can hack anything, revolutionize any field overnight, and acquire real power and resources.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade,\u201d he wrote, saying his warning was \u201cnot a marketing stunt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible \u2013 but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coxon, who spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic, claimed neither company is acting responsibly.
