{"id":25869,"date":"2026-04-14T06:16:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T06:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/25869\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T06:16:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T06:16:33","slug":"declaration-of-independence-understanding-needs-refreshing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/25869\/","title":{"rendered":"Declaration of Independence understanding needs refreshing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recent rulings suggest that the U.S. Supreme Court is aiding and abetting the undermining of the Constitution and rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>Letters to the Editor<br \/>\n\u00a0|\u00a0 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"position:absolute;top:0;left:0;right:0;bottom:0;width:100%;height:100%;z-index:2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/87623483007-usatsi-26383377.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vidplayicon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/appservices\/universal-web\/universal\/icons\/icon-play-alt-white.svg\" alt=\"play\" style=\"height:40px;margin:auto 18px auto 27px;width:40px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Supreme Court to decide if Trump can end birthright citizenship<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court will decide if President Trump can end birthright citizenship for some children born in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the recent article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/12\/31\/scotus-chief-justice-john-roberts-annual-report\/87974092007\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/12\/31\/scotus-chief-justice-john-roberts-annual-report\/87974092007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">&#8220;Roberts: Nation&#8217;s legal foundation unshaken,&#8221; Jan. 4, <\/a>the headline as written is laughable.<\/p>\n<p>Recent rulings suggest that the court itself is aiding and abetting the undermining of the Constitution, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/founding-docs\/declaration-transcript\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/founding-docs\/declaration-transcript\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Declaration of Independence<\/a> and the rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>It is disingenuous of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/about\/biographies.aspx\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/about\/biographies.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Chief Justice John Roberts<\/a> to blithely dismiss the angst of we, the people, as we watch in horror the deliberate disdain of this administration as they systematically ignore the most basic tenets of said documents and standing legal precedent.<\/p>\n<p>Case in point: The Sept., 2025, 6-3 ruling on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/24pdf\/25a169_5h25.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/24pdf\/25a169_5h25.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Vasquez Perdomo v. Noem<\/a> currently giving a green light to ICE agents to stop anyone they deem to be illegal based solely on their appearance, language or job description, even though they have no probable cause. This screams of racial profiling 101!<\/p>\n<p>Another more disturbing ruling is the 2024 ruling on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/23pdf\/23-939_e2pg.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/23pdf\/23-939_e2pg.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Trump v. United States<\/a>, granting President Donald Trump broad presumptive criminal immunity for &#8220;official acts&#8221; taken as president. As we have witnessed, Trump has wasted no time implementing that freedom to act with impunity&#8230;or immunity, as the case may be.<\/p>\n<p>The aphorism we are told is <a href=\"https:\/\/contemporaryquotations.blogs.american.edu\/blog\/quotes\/no-man-is-above-the-law-and-no-man-is-below-it-nor-do-we-ask-any-mans-permission-when-we-ask-him-to-obey-it-obedience-to-the-law-is-demanded-as-a-right-not-asked-as-a-favor\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/contemporaryquotations.blogs.american.edu\/blog\/quotes\/no-man-is-above-the-law-and-no-man-is-below-it-nor-do-we-ask-any-mans-permission-when-we-ask-him-to-obey-it-obedience-to-the-law-is-demanded-as-a-right-not-asked-as-a-favor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">&#8220;no man is above the law,&#8221;<\/a> not &#8220;no man is above the law except&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Seemingly, Roberts and company are woefully out of touch with the very core principles that they are tasked with upholding.
