Aspiring members of the bloc now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/defense-security-wealth-eu-membership-donald-trump\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">increasingly mention security as an incentive to join the bloc<\/a>, alongside wealth and stability. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another factor driving interest in 42.7 is the increased risk of attack against EU states.<\/p>\n<p>After being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/cyprus-slams-uk-after-akrotiri-drone-strike-forced-locals-to-flee\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">targeted by drones<\/a> launched from Lebanon in March, Cyprus in particular has voiced interest in exploring how Article 42.7 would work in practice, the senior official said.
