Trump\u2019s Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has pulled over $73 million in Federal Funding for Governor Kathy Hochul-led (D-NY) New York state amid the illegal commercial driver\u2019s license row.<\/p>\n

Duffy took to the social media platform X on Thursday, sharing clips of an interview with Fox News where he criticized Hochul, sharing that the administration claimed to have followed the rule, but \u201cthe truth is that they actually gave commercial driver\u2019s licenses to people who were in the country illegally,\u201d Duffy said.<\/p>\n

The Transportation Secretary also shared that New York \u201ccompletely rejected\u201d the Department of Transportation\u2019s (DOT) offer to cooperate in the matter. Duffy then shared that the DOT was \u201cpulling $73 million from Hochul’s New York,\u201d adding that \u201cAmerican families deserve to be SAFE on the road.\u201d He also said there could be more cuts in the future.<\/p>\n

The Transport Secretary said that the DOT will withdraw over $30 million in federal funding from the state for illegally issuing CDLs to undocumented drivers.<\/p>\n The issue came to light last year when an undocumented individual, Harjinder Singh, took an illegal U-turn on a Florida highway<\/a> that resulted in the deaths of three people.
