JAKARTA – Meta Platforms is preparing to carry out the first wave of large layoffs on May 20, 2026. This program, as part of a broader restructuring to accelerate artificial intelligence-based transformation.<\/p>\n
According to a source familiar with the plans, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram will cut about 10 percent of its global workforce, equivalent to nearly 8,000 employees, in the initial phase.<\/p>\n

Internal restructuring is also underway. Data from industry tracking sites show more than 73,000 tech workers have lost their jobs through 2026, approaching half of the total layoffs through 2024.<\/p>\n
