Political pundit Bill Kristol<\/a>\u00a0predicted Thursday that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth<\/a>\u00a0will soon lose his job.<\/p>\n

On Thursday the Bulwark\u2019s editor-at-large wrote that a Truth Social post by President Donald Trump<\/a> signaled that the Cabinet member\u2019s \u201cdays are numbered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kristol, who served in the administrations<\/a> of Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, forwarded Trump\u2019s announcement of a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel amid the ongoing Iran war. The president gave shoutouts to Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair \u201cDean Razin\u2019 Caine\u201d but did not mention Hegseth.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe omission of Hegseth from the list of those Trump directs to work on the ceasefire (and his replacement, as it were, by Caine), along with Driscoll\u2019s embrace of Gen. George earlier today, makes me think Hegseth\u2019s days are numbered,\u201d Kristol wrote on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kristol was also referring to Army Secretary Dan Driscoll publicly voicing support for the leadership of Gen. Randy George, the Army chief of staff whom Hegseth fired, at a House hearing on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was an amazing leader,\u201d Driscoll noted in response to praise from a member of Congress.\u00a0Driscoll and Hegseth have repeatedly clashed behind the scenes, The Washington Post previously reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump ignited speculation in late March that he would push Hegseth under the bus when he pointedly said the secretary was the first to push for an attack on Iran<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hegseth has recently raised alarms for his religious bombast to validate the war and castigating journalists for not cheering on the effort<\/a>. The secretary\u2019s Bible-thumping<\/a> reached a comical point Wednesday when he appeared to rip off lines from the movie \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d as a Scripture-based prayer<\/a>.<\/p>\n
