According to the president, the absence of a real presence of international partners along the contact line leaves the question of deterring Russia unresolved.<\/p>\n

“What security guarantees are being given to Ukraine? If there is no presence of our partners on the contact line, then why wouldn\u2019t the Russians resume an offensive after some time? Why? I simply don\u2019t understand why. I see no reasons. What will restrain them? What?” Zelenskyy emphasized.<\/p>\n

He also commented on the US position that Russia would supposedly avoid escalation out of fear of a strong response from Trump.<\/p>\n

“Take the US, for example \u2014 President Trump. President Trump will still be there for another two and a half years, and what will we do after that?” the Ukrainian leader summed up.<\/p>\n

Earlier, US officials stated <\/a>that they are ready to provide Ukraine with real security guarantees only after the end of hostilities. At the same time, they link this issue to conditions regarding the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.<\/p>\n
