The seating chart for President Trump\u2018s family at his State of the Union address<\/a> on Tuesday, February 24, had a deeper meaning, according to Rob Shuter.<\/p>\n

In the Friday, February 27 edition of Shuter\u2019s Naughty But Nice<\/a> Substack, a source shared that First Lady Melania Trump sat closest to the aisle because that is \u201cthe power seat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s where cameras linger,\u201d the source explained. \u201cPower trickles down from that position.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melania, 55, wanted son Barron Trump right next to her, but after that, the commander-in-chief\u2019s daughter Ivanka<\/a> wanted to be next in line, Shuter reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounds silly and petty, but this means a lot to Ivanka,\u201d another source shared. \u201cShe did not want to be seated after her brothers or pushed to the end. This was not an accident.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next to Ivanka, 44,<\/a> was brother Eric, then brother Donald Jr., and, lastly, her half-sister, Tiffany.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese optics are carefully planned,\u201d the source noted. \u201cIn this family, placement equals status.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the 79-year-old\u2019s first term, Ivanka served as his advisor, but since he took office a second time, she has opted to stay out of the administration.<\/p>\n

In a January 2025 appearance on the Skinny Confidential Him & Her <\/a>podcast, Ivanka explained her reasoning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main reason I am not going back to serve now is, I know the cost, and it\u2019s a price that I\u2019m not willing to make my kids bear,\u201d she remarked. \u201cIt\u2019s very easy to make a decision when it aligns around your core values and my highest most core value is family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love policy and impact. I hate politics. And unfortunately, the two are not separable,\u201d she added. \u201cThere is a darkness to that world that I don\u2019t really want to welcome into mine.\u201d<\/p>\n
