Zach Witkoff, the co-founder and CEO of the Trump family\u2019s cryptocurrency venture<\/a>, was arrested four years ago on a cocaine charge that has since been dropped, according to a new report and court records.<\/p>\n

Witkoff is the CEO of World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture he co-founded with members of President Donald Trump\u2019s family<\/a>, including Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. He is also the son of Steve Witkoff, Trump\u2019s special envoy to the Middle East.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Newsground<\/a> has obtained body camera footage of Zach Witkoff\u2019s arrest on New Year\u2019s Day 2022 at the Miami nightclub E11even. Witkoff was handcuffed and repeatedly told officers he did \u201cnothing wrong,\u201d the footage shows. Eventually, no charges were filed in the case.<\/p>\n

At one point, Witkoff appeared to tell a security guard: \u201cI\u2019m friends with Marc Roberts, I swear to God.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody cares, nobody cares. You understand that, right? Nobody cares. Stop dropping names,\u201d the security guard said. Marc Roberts is a well-known real estate developer in Florida.<\/p>\n

Zach Witkoff was told to \u2018stop dropping names\u2019 during his 2022 arrest in Florida, according to body camera footage obtained by The Newsground (Miami Police Department)<\/p>\n

\u201cI did nothing though,\u201d Witkoff replied.<\/p>\n

He was also ordered to \u201crelax\u201d and \u201cstop tensing up\u201d during his detainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re the police, all right? So, you need to listen to us. We’re trying to talk to you,\u201d an officer said.<\/p>\n

The arresting officer said he found a \u201cclear plastic bag containing suspected powder cocaine\u201d in Witkoff\u2019s pocket during the incident, according to an arrest affidavit reviewed by The Independent.<\/p>\n

Witkoff was arrested on charges of cocaine possession, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to public court records<\/a>. It appears prosecutors did not pursue those charges, and the case was dropped.<\/p>\n

When reached for comment, a public information officer for the Miami Police Department provided Witkoff\u2019s arrest affidavit and confirmed the body camera footage was taken at the same time, date and location listed on the affidavit.<\/p>\n

Witkoff told The Independent he was \u201cdeeply embarrassed\u201d by the arrest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis incident occurred during a difficult period in my life, and while there were no charges, I\u2019m deeply embarrassed by it. It was an isolated mistake that does not reflect who I am or how I live my life today,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot long after, I got married and started a family\u2014something that changed everything for me. Since then, I\u2019ve lived a disciplined lifestyle with my focus on my family and my responsibilities. I\u2019m grateful to my wife and family for their unwavering support,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

World Liberty Financial is currently facing a lawsuit from billionaire Justin Sun<\/a>, who has claimed his multi-million dollar investment was secured through fraud and that the cryptocurrency venture is \u201con the verge of collapse.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sun said he remains an \u201cardent supporter of President Trump and his Administration\u2019s efforts to make America crypto friendly,\u201d and that his lawsuit does not change how he feels about the president, according to an X post<\/a> he shared Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Witkoff responded with his own social media<\/a> post calling the lawsuit a \u201cdesperate attempt to deflect attention from Sun\u2019s own misconduct.\u201d<\/p>\n
