House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries<\/a> (D-N.Y.) has responded to President Donald Trump\u2019s recent attacks on his intelligence. According to HuffPost<\/a>, the president took to Truth Social<\/a> on Tuesday evening (April 21) to call out Jeffries and other Democrats for criticizing his approach to the ongoing war in Iran, which he recently announced an indefinite ceasefire <\/a>for hours before the previous two-week deadline. <\/p>\n

\u201cNever allow the Traitor Democrats like Low IQ person Hakeem Jeffries, or Cryin\u2019 Chuck Schumer, or the totally corrupt Fake News Media such as the phony and decaying Wall Street Journal, the Failing New York Times (Subscriptions way down!), or dying \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d to demean or criticize Operation Midnight Hammer, which totally obliterated the Nuclear Dust locations to the point where bloodthirsty Iran has been unable to get to it, or dig it out,\u201d the post reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeffries responded to the president\u2019s post during an interview with MS NOW\u2019s Lawrence O\u2019Donnell on Tuesday, calling it an \u201cextraordinary insult.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s so ironic is that Donald Trump is clearly the dumbest person ever to sit at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,\u201d Jeffries said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeffries quickly moved on from the topic of Trump\u2019s words to then discuss how the president and Republicans in Congress \u201chave completely and totally failed America\u201d on policy, while pointing to the war in Iran, where more than a dozen Americans have been killed and some 400 others wounded.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey failed on the economy, failed on health care, failed on immigration enforcement, and now they\u2019ve gotten us into a reckless and costly war of choice,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the past, Trump has used the phrase \u201clow IQ person\u201d to refer to various people, predominantly people of color, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Jasmine Crockett <\/a>(D-Texas).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAOC, look, I think she\u2019s very nice. But she\u2019s very low-IQ, and we really don\u2019t need low-IQ,\u201d the president told reporters in July 2025, per HuffPost<\/a>. \u201cBetween her and Crockett, we\u2019re going to give them both an IQ test to see who comes out best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both representatives have been staunch critics of the president in the past, with Crockett especially calling out <\/a>the administration\u2019s policies aimed at eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the country. and educational institutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump also referred to Crockett as \u201clow IQ\u201d during a \u201cMeet the Press\u201d conference with NBC News\u2019 Kristen Welker in May 2025, to which the Texas representative responded via X<\/a>, writing:\u00a0<\/p>\n
