Mandelson was sacked months after his appointment over his links to Jeffrey Epstein and is currently facing a police inquiry over claims that he leaked sensitive government documents to the child sex offender while in his role as business secretary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In light of the recent Starmer drama, Saturday Night Live UK\u2019s show on Saturday (25 April) opened with a parody of ITV\u2019s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, renaming it to Who Wants To Remain A Millionaire with the prime minister becoming a contestant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Al Nash played the role of former Top Gear presenter <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/jeremy-clarkson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:Jeremy Clarkson;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Jeremy Clarkson<\/a>, who wasn\u2019t spared by the show\u2019s comedy writers.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"George Fouracres and Larry Dean as Sir Keir Starmer and Peter Mandelson (Sky)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/124bd90f49e592f4012172e8a91c800c.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>George Fouracres and Larry Dean as Sir Keir Starmer and Peter Mandelson (Sky)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI\u2019m your host, fake farmer and real arsehole Jeremy Clarkson,\u201d he said. \u201cLet\u2019s bring out our contestant for the night. You hate him, I hate him \u2013 it\u2019s prime minister Keir Starmer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">George Fouracres reprised his role as Starmer from previous episodes, with his bumbling caricature of the prime minister being asked the question, \u201cis it ever a good idea to give Peter Mandelson a job?\u201d Reading out the multiple choice answers, Clarkson said: \u201cA. No. B. Of Course Not. C. Not In A Million Years. D. Yes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s a tricky one, Jeremy,\u201d Starmer replied. \u201cI think I\u2019m going to have to use a lifeline on this one, I\u2019ll ask the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While the results were overwhelming in favour of C, Starmer asked to use the 50-50 lifeline and when that left just C and D, he chose to phone a friend \u2013 Peter Mandelson, described as a \u201cpaedophile-adjacent Bond villain\u201d by Nash\u2019s Clarkson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">SNL UK star Larry Dean played the role of Mandelson, who was shown in a white robe bearing the initials \u201cJ.R\u201d \u2013 referencing the <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/peter-mandelson-andrew-mountbattenwindsor-jeffrey-epstein-lord-itv-news-b2938072.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:photographs of Mandelson found in the Epstein files;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">photographs of Mandelson found in the Epstein files<\/a> of him in the same attire while in the paedophile\u2019s company.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Al Nash as Jeremy Clarkson (Sky)\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"513\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/d9fb172f524ce9ce702f7175f4e85d9b.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Al Nash as Jeremy Clarkson (Sky)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Starmer asked Mandelson whether it\u2019s ever a good idea to give him a job, with Mandelson responding: \u201cMe? A job? I\u2019d be careful if I were you,\u201d before laughing villainously as the lighting turned red.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Despite being given the chance to use the 50:50 lifeline again and being left with C, Starmer said: \u201cI know it\u2019s not conventional but I\u2019d actually like to bring back one of the previous options because I\u2019m going to go with D \u2013 final answer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When asked whether he\u2019s sure, Starmer said: \u201cOh, never.\u201d Unsurprisingly, it\u2019s revealed to be the wrong answer, with Starmer telling Clarkson: \u201cJeremy, it\u2019s clear to me now that that was the wrong decision. Would I make the same decision again, knowing what I know now? Quite possibly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Independent has reached out to the Cabinet Office, Peter Mandelson and Jeremy Clarkson for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The clip has found fans on social media, with one viewer writing on X: \u201cgeorge fouracres is a better keir starmer than keir starmer is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While another tweeted: \u201cstarmer\u2019s even getting rinsed on tv now. when the jokes write themselves, you know the government\u2019s a mess.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The show poked fun at the story later on in the show, with Weekend Update co-host Paddy Young saying: \u201cAs a result of the Mandelson fallout, civil servant Olly Robbins has been sakced. No! Not Olly Robins! Sir Oliver Robins, Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs in the United Kingdom! Who\u2019s that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Earlier in April, Starmer sacked Robbins for failing to tell him that Mandelson had failed vetting for the role of ambassador to the US.
