This follows a trend of <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/openai-london-expansion-stargate-uk-energy-costs\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"65161\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OpenAI<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/anthropic-uk-london-office\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"65130\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Anthropic<\/a> setting up in London\u2019s expanding tech hub.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Prometheus <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/project-prometheus-bezos-funding-38b-valuation-physics-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">raised $10 billion<\/a> at a $38 billion valuation, with <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/reflection-ai-25-billion-valuation-nvidia-deepseek\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">JPMorgan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/iqm-blackrock-50m-quantum-computing-us-listing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">BlackRock<\/a> involved. The total funding topped $16 billion, including <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/jeff-bezos-ai-startup-project-prometheus-ceo-return-manufacturing-aerospace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$6.2 billion from its November 2025 launch<\/a>, making Prometheus one of the world\u2019s most valuable early-stage AI startups. <\/p>\n<p>Bezos and Vikram Bajaj co-founded the company and serve as co-CEOs. This is Bezos\u2019s first hands-on role at a tech company since he left his position as Amazon CEO in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>As TFN has reported since the launch, Bezos\u2019s plans <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/bezos-30b-ai-lab-manufacturing-acquisitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">go beyond just one lab<\/a>. Prometheus is building AI systems to model and simulate real-world physics. The company also plans to create a holding company that could invest up to $100 billion to buy industrial businesses and use their data in its models.<\/p>\n<p>The company now has more than 120 employees from OpenAI, xAI, Meta, and DeepMind. It has also bought General Agents, an agentic AI startup co-founded by former DeepMind researcher Sherjil Ozair.<\/p>\n<p>Elon Musk has called Bezos a \u201ccopycat\u201d because both xAI and Prometheus focus on the physical world. Other competitors include <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/former-openai-and-deepmind-researchers-eye-7b-valuation-for-ai-startup-periodic-labs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Periodic Labs<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/techfundingnews.com\/openai-nvidia-microsoft-invest-in-figure-ais-675m-round-to-develop-next-gen-ai-models-for-humanoids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Figure AI<\/a>, which are making progress in humanoid robotics. Still, none of these companies has attracted institutional funding at this level or so early.<\/p>\n<p>With Prometheus moving in, King\u2019s Cross is becoming an even stronger centre for the AI industry.
