What happened<\/p>\n
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said on Monday<\/a> that a Senate bill to fund most of the Department of Homeland Security contains \u201cproblematic language,\u201d and House Republicans \u201chave a modified version\u201d that would be \u201cmuch better for both chambers.\u201d Any changes to the bill, which the Senate twice passed unanimously<\/a> a month ago, would prolong the record 73-day DHS shutdown.<\/p>\n Who said what<\/p>\n Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told reporters that anything other than<\/a> a \u201ctechnical fix\u201d in the House would be a \u201creal problem.\u201d A group of House Republicans is pushing to strip \u201clanguage that \u2018zeroes out\u2019 funding for ICE and Border Patrol,\u201d seeking to avoid \u201ctaking a vote seen as defunding law enforcement,\u201d Axios<\/a> said. \u201cFrustration is running high among Senate Republicans over Johnson\u2019s failure\u201d to get his party in line.
