President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared on Wednesday that the Muslim world is passing through a \u201cdifficult and painful period,\u201d pointing to ongoing conflicts and humanitarian crises across multiple regions. Speaking at the International Quran Recitation Competition Awards Ceremony, Erdogan said: \u201cFrom Palestine to Lebanon, from the Gulf to Sudan, from Somalia to Yemen, wherever we turn our heads, we are unfortunately met with tears.\u201d He criticized the so-called civilized world for turning a blind eye to massacres, saying: \u201cIn these days of trial, when the so-called civilized world turns a blind eye, infants in cradles and defenseless civilians are being brutally massacred.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erdogan also condemned those who have long spoken \u201carrogantly\u201d about justice, equality, and human rights. \u201cToday, we all see their true faces,\u201d he said, without naming specific countries. His remarks come amid ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, the US-Israel war with Iran, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz\u2014all of which have disproportionately affected Muslim-majority nations.<\/p>\n
Call for unity<\/p>\n
The Turkish president emphasized that Muslims should turn to faith and unity to endure the current period. \u201cTo pass this test, we have no option other than believing in each other, trusting each other and supporting one another,\u201d he said.
