This was the first earnings report since the company announced Cook will leave his role in September, with hardware engineering lead John Ternus taking over.<\/p>\n<p>Apple reported what Cook described as its strongest March quarter to date. Revenue reached $111.2 billion, a 17% increase compared to the same period last year. iPhone revenue totaled $57 billion, up 22% year-over-year and roughly matching analyst projections, according to the earnings call.<\/p>\n<p>The results underscore the scale of the business Ternus will inherit, as well as the challenge of expanding Apple&#8217;s core products while developing new ones. On the call, Ternus briefly outlined his intended approach as CEO, drawing on lessons from Cook. He noted that a key feature of Cook&#8217;s leadership has been a thoughtful, deliberate, and disciplined approach to financial decisions, and stated he plans to continue that strategy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/app.indexbox.io\/indicators\/symbol\/apple-inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Apple shares<\/a> fell initially in after-hours trading before rising more than 3% later on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Cook reiterated on the call that Apple differentiates itself by integrating artificial intelligence across its devices rather than creating standalone software tools. Apple also noted that businesses are using the Mac for AI purposes, including building and running agents. Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh listed AI startup Perplexity as one such Mac customer.<\/p>\n<p>Ternus, currently senior vice president of hardware engineering, may leverage that background to help the company in the AI space. Apple expects to announce AI advancements at its Worldwide Developer Conference in June, Cook stated. The company anticipates supply constraints in the June quarter due to stronger AI-driven demand for the Mac Mini and Mac Studio.<\/p>\n<p>Supply constraints affected the iPhone and Mac during the March quarter, with the Mac likely to be more heavily impacted in the June quarter, Apple said.
