Donald Trump Jr is in talks to front a reboot of The Apprentice<\/a>, the reality TV show that made his father a household name<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Executives at Amazon<\/a> are reportedly in discussions to revive the franchise, with the younger Trump being considered as the new boardroom leader to replace his father.<\/p>\n

The US president hosted the original NBC series from 2004-2015, with contestants competing for a job working alongside him at the Trump Organisation.<\/p>\n

Discussions are still in the early stages, and Amazon has yet to approach the Trump family, according to reports, but if it is made, the show will appear on Prime Video.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince our acquisition of MGM, we have had preliminary internal discussions about what\u2019s next for \u2018The Apprentice\u2019 as a property,\u201d an Amazon spokesman told the Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n

The spokesman added that the show was not in active development, and any potential host is yet to be selected.<\/p>\n

Mr Trump, 47, is the eldest of the president\u2019s children, and has built a profile in recent years as a conservative media personality, political pundit and author.<\/p>\n

The original Apprentice made his father a household name beyond the business world.<\/p>\n

At its peak, the show drew more than 20 million viewers, and it is widely credited with cementing Donald Trump\u2019s image as a businessman, one that would later prove central to his political rise.<\/p>\n

Amazon executives began floating the idea of a reboot internally in early 2025, around the time Mr Trump was being sworn in for his second term, according to people familiar with the discussions.<\/p>\n

In early 2025, Amazon agreed to pay more than $40m (\u00a332m) to distribute Melania, a documentary<\/a> in which a film crew followed the first lady during the first few weeks of Mr Trump\u2019s second term.<\/p>\n

Amazon\u2019s decision to acquire the documentary drew internal scrutiny.<\/p>\n

The sum Amazon paid was nearly three times the next highest offer, and Melania Trump reportedly took home more than 70 per cent of the proceeds.<\/p>\n

Amazon also rereleased episodes of the original Apprentice in March 2025.<\/p>\n

The president himself appeared to give a potential reboot a nudge on Monday, posting an old newspaper article on Truth Social sharing the first season\u2019s record ratings.<\/p>\n

The Apprentice talks are the latest instalments in a relationship between Jeff Bezos<\/a> and Mr Trump that has undergone a significant transformation.<\/p>\n

The pair were once openly hostile, with Mr Trump spending much of his first term attacking Mr Bezos and the Washington Post, and Mr Bezos branding him a \u201cthreat to democracy\u201d.<\/p>\n

But their relationship has warmed in recent years, with Mr Bezos and his wife, Lauren S\u00e1nchez, among other tech billionaires seated prominently at Mr Trump\u2019s inauguration in January 2025.<\/p>\n

Amazon streamed the ceremony live on Prime Video.<\/p>\n
