Saturday Night Live<\/a> brutally mocked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth<\/a> and FBI Director Kash Patel in its latest cold open sketch, <\/a>with Aziz Ansari stepping in to play the embattled bureau chief.<\/p>\n

In the sketch, Hegseth, played by Colin Jost, riding high from his Congressional testimony<\/a> this week, and Ansari\u2019s Patel took questions from an exasperated press corps in the White House briefing room. The cold opening is the latest to feature the SNL cast mocking members of the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, listen up, dingbats, OK? As you might have seen on our sick a** TikTok, we’ve been bombing stuff, doing sick air raids. This war has been a movie, specifically the NeverEnding Story,\u201d Jost\u2019s Hegseth bragged of the war in Iran. <\/a>The real-life war with Iran has now lasted roughly 60 days, though President Donald Trump has said he received a new peace proposal from Tehran.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hit Iran with everything we’ve got…missiles, bombs, drones and twins. But now we’re in a ceasefire \u2014 wink,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A few moments later, a reporter interjected: \u201cBut President Trump himself just declared that the war is over.\u201d<\/p>\n

SNL’s latest cold open sketch brutally mocked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, played by Colin Jost, and FBI Director Kash Patel, played by Aziz Ansari (Saturday Night Live)<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, yeah, when he says it, it’s cool. And to quote another thing he says, \u2018You’re fired!\u2019\u201d Jost replied, referencing Trump\u2019s catchphrase on The Apprentice.<\/p>\n

Soon afterward, he introduced Ansari\u2019s Patel<\/a>, who entered the room to loud cheers from the audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat up? It’s K Dot, AKA Kash with the K, AKA the most effective FBI director this country has ever had, Kash Patel!\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

The sketch referenced last weekend\u2019s shooting at the Washington Hilton hotel <\/a>during the White House Correspondents\u2019 Association Dinner, where Trump and other administration officials were evacuated from the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the attempted assassination of President Trump \u2014 another one \u2014 we conducted an investigation that could not have been more thorough,\u201d Ansari said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe dotted every T and bulls-ed every I. And for those of you saying I’m doing a bad job running the FBI, well, what if I told you this agency is only six weeks away from pinpointing the exact location of Osama bin Laden?\u201d he continued, as the audience erupted in laughter.<\/p>\n

Patel has faced recent criticism for his handling of the FBI and some have called for his ouster. Patel also recently sued The Atlantic<\/a> over a profile about his alleged drinking and some of his behavior while leading the FBI.<\/p>\n

The sketch followed a letter Trump sent to Congress sent Friday, where he said hostilities with Iran had been \u201cterminated,\u201d<\/a> and that the U.S. and Iran hadn\u2019t exchanged fire since April 7.
