Nvidia<\/a> CEO Jensen Huang<\/a> challenged predictions of an artificial intelligence apocalypse during an interview this week with the Special Competitive Studies Project. Huang argued that the technology acts as a catalyst for job creation rather than a tool for mass unemployment, as reported by Detik Finance.<\/p>\n

The tech executive suggested that warnings about AI-driven workforce displacement could have negative consequences for the labor market. He specifically pointed to the potential harm in discouraging students from pursuing technical careers based on these forecasts.<\/p>\n

“If we convinced all the young college graduates to not be software engineers, and it turns out the United States needs more software engineers than ever, that\u2019s hurtful,” explained Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia. “So we have to be mindful of how we communicate the importance of this technology and what it\u2019s able to do.”<\/p>\n

Recent market shifts show investors selling software shares due to fears that AI agents will allow customers to build their own platforms. However, Huang dismissed claims that the technology will destroy democracy or half of all entry-level positions.<\/p>\n

“They\u2019re made by people who are like me, CEOs, and somehow because they became CEOs you adopt a God complex, and before you know it you know everything,” said Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia. “And so I think we have to be careful and really ground ourselves to talking about the facts.”<\/p>\n

Huang provided estimates showing that AI has contributed to the creation of over 500,000 jobs in recent years. He noted that corporate growth fueled by AI integration leads to increased hiring, a trend supported by data from the hiring site Indeed.<\/p>\n

Addressing the future of development, the CEO argued that the global need for software vastly exceeds current output levels. He refuted the idea that coding requirements are a static metric.<\/p>\n

“We need a trillion lines of code written,” said Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia. “We need way more code written than that because we have the imagination of solving problems whether it\u2019s in healthcare or science or in manufacturing and retail.”<\/p>\n

Huang concluded by distinguishing the task of coding from the broader purpose of software engineering. While AI handles the technical task, he maintained that the purpose remains focused on innovation, problem-solving, and identifying new societal needs.<\/p>\n
