{"id":58002,"date":"2026-05-05T14:43:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-05T14:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/58002\/"},"modified":"2026-05-05T14:43:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T14:43:16","slug":"on-georgias-relations-with-ukraine-jamnews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/58002\/","title":{"rendered":"On Georgia\u2019s relations with Ukraine\/JAMnews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jam-news.net\/category\/geography\/georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Georgian<\/a> Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Tbilisi was ready \u201cto do everything\u201d to restore relations with <a href=\"https:\/\/jam-news.net\/topic\/ukraine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Ukraine<\/a> as fully as possible, despite tensions that have built up between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>  <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/jam-news.net\/georgian-dreams-banners-reaction\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wi-full-height wi-ratio-img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Banner-of-GD.jpeg\" alt=\"\" uk-img=\"\"\/><br \/>\n  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Georgia\u2019s prime minister said he had never spoken about Ukraine\u2019s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in negative terms, as Ukraine is a friendly country at war.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have never spoken about Zelenskyy in a negative way, and there is a simple reason for that: he is the president of a country that is at war today, and that country is our friend. For that reason, I have always been careful in my words about Zelenskyy,\u201d Kobakhidze said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Georgia and Ukraine share a long history, providing a basis for closer cooperation. He said the Georgian side was ready to take \u201call reasonable steps\u201d to restore relations, both between the countries and their governments.<\/p>\n<p>Kobakhidze also expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian people and said Georgia fully supports Ukraine and wants to maintain friendly ties.<\/p>\n<p>He said his recent meeting with Zelenskyy was held in a friendly atmosphere and focused mainly on the future, despite unresolved issues between the two countries. He mentioned several points of contention, including former officials and diplomatic decisions, but said they did not go into detail during the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>  <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/jam-news.net\/irakli-kobakhidze-meets-zelensky-in-yerevan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wi-full-height wi-ratio-img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Screenshot-2026-05-04-at-15.40.50.png\" alt=\"Irakli Kobakhidze meets Zelensky in Yerevan\" uk-img=\"\"\/><br \/>\n  <\/a><\/p>\n<p>The leaders of Georgia and Ukraine met in Yerevan on 4 May on the sidelines of a European Political Community summit.
