{"id":59541,"date":"2026-05-06T14:32:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T14:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/59541\/"},"modified":"2026-05-06T14:32:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T14:32:08","slug":"avigdor-liberman-calls-for-decisive-outcome-vows-not-to-sit-with-benjamin-netanyahu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/59541\/","title":{"rendered":"Avigdor Liberman calls for \u2018decisive outcome,\u2019 vows not to sit with Benjamin Netanyahu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/yisrael-beytenu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Yisrael Beitenu<\/a> leader MK Avidgor Liberman launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/politics-and-diplomacy\/article-895108\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">a new campaign<\/a> on Wednesday, ahead of the upcoming elections, calling for a decisive military outcome on all fronts and vowed that he would not sit in a government with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, \u201ceven if the world turns upside down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Launching the campaign at a press conference in Tel Aviv, Liberman argued that it was \u201cimpossible to keep living from one round of fighting to the next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cWe need to achieve a decisive outcome, no matter how long it takes. The top priority must be defeating Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a security and strategic disaster that must be ended. We must move from a reality of cycles to a reality of decisive outcomes. (credit: YISRAEL BEYTENU)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cAny move that adds value must be made; anything that doesn\u2019t contribute to strengthening the bloc is, in my view, a waste,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Liberman will do &#8216;whatever helps to get the most mandates&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-890174\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liberman<\/a> also addressed recent reports that he was considering a merger with Yashar! Party leader Gadi Eisenkot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He did not reject the possibility of such an alliance with Eisenkot and responded that \u201cwhatever helps to get the most mandates, we will do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Amid recent reports that Liberman was considering partnering with Netanyahu, Liberman denied any possibility of such a scenario.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cI emphasize that even if the world turns upside down, I will not sit with Netanyahu,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cAnd it\u2019s not personal. He [Netanyahu] evaded responsibility for the [October 7] massacre and is not fit to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman laid out six areas that, he argued, if not handled correctly and brought to a decisive outcome, \u201cwill leave the country without a future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The first three areas called for decisive military outcomes with Iran, Hezbollah, and Hamas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The other three areas called for universal conscription, addressing crime and criminal organizations to restore security, and establishing a constitution to address the country\u2019s \u201cconstitutional crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman said he was holding the press conference to address \u201cwhat truly matters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No exemptions for military service<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Regarding haredi (ultra-Orthodox) conscription, he said that in the next government, no one would be exempt from the IDF.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cNot a single yeshiva student will be exempt, not even a fraction. One hundred percent conscription, with no compromises. We will not agree to a partial conscription law,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman vowed that he would not enter any government that would not commit to a universal draft.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s take it or leave it, we won\u2019t agree to anything else,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman sharply criticized the crime rates in the country, saying that Israel had reached a level of \u201cexistential danger\u201d and required total change.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He also addressed left-wing Democrats leader Yair Golan\u2019s call on the opposition bloc on Tuesday to partner with Arab parties and form a coalition with them after the elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">When asked about such an option, Liberman rejected any possibility of sitting in a government with Arab parties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman said that Golan was \u201ctalking nonsense\u201d and that it was anti-Zionist to consider such an option.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He added that Ra\u2019am party leader Mansour Abbas \u201cwants to be the [haredi party] \u2018Shas\u2019 of the Arabs, and I\u2019ve had enough of Shas of the Jews.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman also noted that he would not reject the Likud party if it were no longer led by Netanyahu and agreed to Yisrael Beitenu\u2019s principles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman vowed to conduct a state commission of inquiry into government failures on October 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He said that for those attacks, there was \u201cclear responsibility. The largest massacre in Israel\u2019s history is on him [Netanyahu].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThe difference between the prime minister of October 7 and me is that on my watch, the October 7 massacre would not have happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cOn my watch, after two and a half years, we would have reached a decisive outcome on all four fronts,\u201d Liberman said.<\/p>\n<p>What is Yisrael Beytenu<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Yisrael Beitenu is part of the opposition bloc seeking to replace Netanyahu in elections scheduled for no later than October. It holds a hawkish security stance and advocates for expanding Israeli settlements in the West Bank. It also calls for universal conscription, pushing to draft the haredi population. The party strongly advocates for a separation of religion and state.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Liberman has served in key security and diplomatic positions in previous governments, including as defense minister, foreign minister, and finance minister. In 2018, he resigned as defense minister from Netanyahu\u2019s government in protest at a ceasefire agreement with Hamas following a round of heavy rocket fire from the terror group toward Israel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/politics-and-diplomacy\/article-895076\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sharon Sharabi<\/a>, brother of former Hamas hostage Eli Sharabi, announced on Monday that he was entering politics and joining the party ahead of the elections.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Capt. (res.) Israel Ben-Shitrit also joined Yisrael Beitenu on Tuesday.
