{"id":64069,"date":"2026-05-09T18:06:18","date_gmt":"2026-05-09T18:06:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/64069\/"},"modified":"2026-05-09T18:06:18","modified_gmt":"2026-05-09T18:06:18","slug":"trumps-revenge-tour-steaming-through-the-south-after-indy-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/64069\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump&#8217;s &#8216;revenge&#8217; tour steaming through the South after Indy win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Republicans who brazenly crossed President Trump are looking over their shoulders after six out of seven state senators who resisted his redistricting push in Indiana have been knocked off.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Team Trump is plotting to take down Republicans who made it onto his bad side in Louisiana, Kentucky and Georgia \u2013 while firing up redistricting efforts in Tennessee and South Carolina to try to carve out more Republican seats in a fight to retain control of the House.<\/p>\n<p>Trump allies poured $13.5 million into state Senate races in Indiana, with one redistricting resister\u2019s race still yet to be called Friday. Experts say it was a stunning sum for small races that delivered an outsized message to anyone in the party thinking of going rogue.<\/p>\n<p>Emboldened by their successful effort to take down Indiana Republicans who crossed President Trump on redistricting, his allies hope to score wins against additional Republicans who have run afoul of the president. AP<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Indiana result said you try any wiggle room \u2013 the executioner comes,\u201d former President Bill Clinton\u2019s advisor James Carville told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>Near the top of Trump\u2019s list is Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who voted to convict him on \u201cincitement of insurrection\u201d after the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. Trump tore into Cassidy <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/30\/us-news\/trump-pulls-nomination-of-rfk-jr-ally-casey-means-for-surgeon-general-taps-dr-nicole-saphier-to-replace-him\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">after his nomination of Dr. Casey Means for US Surgeon General imploded<\/a> over her position on vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMagic seldom happens this close to an election. It\u2019s pretty clear that Cassidy is not going to win,\u201d said Carville. Trump got behind challenger Rep. Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.) and late last month called Cassidy \u201cvery disloyal.\u201d  Republican state Treasurer John Fleming is also running. <\/p>\n<p>Trump is also salivating to take down Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who has <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/16\/us-news\/rep-massie-gives-dramatic-warning-to-gop-on-epstein-files-you-will-have-voted-to-protect-pedophiles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">pushed to release<\/a> files on the Jeffrey Epstein scandal and opposed the president\u2019s Big Beautiful Bill \u2013<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/10\/us-news\/trump-takes-his-war-against-thomas-massie-straight-to-his-home-kentucky-district\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> flying to his district<\/a> to endorse former Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein. Outside groups have poured $10 million into ads TV trashing Massie.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is also keen to settle scores with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who resisted his pleas to \u201cfind 11,780 votes\u201d in their infamous phone call after the 2020 elections. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) voted to convict Trump of incitement of insurrection, and is in danger of losing in the primary. AP<\/p>\n<p>Trump has repeatedly inveighed against Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and flew to his district. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday night Trump endorsed Georgia Republican Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who is running against Raffensperger, at a tele-rally. Health care exec Rick Jackson has a narrow polling lead in the Republican primary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRepublican candidates distancing themselves from President Trump\u2019s success are in for a rude awakening and should pull a Geoff Duncan and switch to a different party,\u201d one senior Georgia political operative told The Post, referencing the former lieutenant governor who left the GOP to become a Democrat last year.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans are firing up their mid-decade redistricting push after the Indiana results and a Supreme Court ruling that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/04\/29\/us-news\/supreme-court-tosses-louisiana-house-map-in-major-voting-rights-act-decision\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">struck down the Louisiana map<\/a> in a Voting Rights Act case, while facing predictions of a blue wave.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is indisputable and undeniable that the president is a real political force and people should obviously pay heed to it,\u201d said South Carolina AG Alan Wilson, who is pushing a new plan to redraw his state\u2019s congressional lines.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He says he phoned half a dozen state senators Thursday urging them to support legislation to extend South Carolina\u2019s legislative session to redraw its map. <\/p>\n<p>The move could cost Democrats a seat and endangers President Joe Biden pal Rep. James C.
