Watch live as Sir Keir Starmer<\/a> delivers a make-or-break speech in the House of Commons on Monday (11 May) as he fights to save his political future following the dismal local election results.<\/a><\/p>\n

The prime minister\u2019s statement comes after dozens of Labour<\/a> MPs have publicly called for him to resign after the party lost almost 1,500 seats.<\/a><\/p>\n

Reacting to the results on Friday, Sir Keir insisted he would not resign but acknowledged the losses were \u201ctough\u201d for Labour.<\/p>\n

Former deputy prime minister Angela Rayner<\/a> has issued a dramatic ultimatum to the PM<\/a>, warning him: \u201cWhat we are doing isn\u2019t working, and it needs to change. This may be our last chance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Ms Rayner and health secretary Wes Streeting<\/a> are seen as potential leadership contenders, although both are yet to make a move against Sir Keir.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Sir Keir is expected to promise sweeping changes to address the \u201cbig challenges\u201d confronting the UK in his latest bid to save his job.<\/p>\n
