She said they objected to \u201cthis year\u2019s honorary chair and lead sponsor, billionaire Jeff Bezos<\/a>.\u201d Then, Joy Behar answered quickly, saying, \u201cI\u2019m sick of him.\u201d She added, \u201cI also love Amazon. That\u2019s my dilemma.\u201d Behar then called the celebration badly timed, saying it felt \u201ctacky\u201d amid economic pressure. She also said, \u201cPay your taxes, Jeff Bezos, pay your taxes and pay your employees.\u201d<\/p>\n However, the panel did not land in one place on the Met Gala<\/a> debate. Sunny Hostin pushed back by pointing to the Costume Institute\u2019s funding model. She said the gala raised a \u201crecord breaking $42 million\u201d and supported exhibitions, publications, acquisitions, and operations. Meanwhile, Alyssa Farah Griffin called the event \u201copulence\u201d and \u201celitist\u201d in some ways. Still, she said she enjoyed checking the gowns because it offered an escape from daily stress. Behar said the entry cost \u201c$100,000,\u201d while many people could not afford basic expenses. Later, Goldberg said she had attended the gala before and noted that protests also happen at the Oscars and Grammys.
