Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan declared Tuesday that T\u00fcrkiye has shielded its food supply chain and agricultural sector from the spillover effects of regional wars, climate risks, and global crises. Speaking at the World Farmers\u2019 Day program in Ankara, Erdo\u011fan said that through a \u201cbalanced foreign policy,\u201d T\u00fcrkiye protected both national stability and food security for its 86 million citizens \u201cwithout any disruption.\u201d<\/p>\n
Precautions and agricultural strength<\/p>\n
Erdo\u011fan noted that Ankara has been on alert since conflicts affecting Iran and Gulf countries began, ensuring agricultural production remained unaffected. \u201cIn agriculture, we had already secured fertilizer and fertilizer raw material supplies. Our fertilizer stocks are at sufficient levels,\u201d he said. He added that T\u00fcrkiye ranks third globally in vegetable production, fourth in fruit production, and among the top three producers in 21 crop categories. T\u00fcrkiye also exports seeds to 117 countries.<\/p>\n
New financing for farmers<\/p>\n
The president announced a new World Bank-backed initiative under the T\u00fcrkiye Agrifood Sector Transformation Project, providing financing covering up to 80% of investment costs with terms of up to seven years and a maximum of 10 million per project.The first tranche of a 5.3 billion package will make 750millionavailablein2026.AseparateCreditGuaranteeFundmechanismwillcreateapproximately500 million in credit for primary producers, supporting 400,000 farmers and generating 250,000 new jobs.<\/p>\n
Solidarity with Palestinians<\/p>\n
