However, this position is not echoed by the Front&#8217;s allies in the Spanish Parliament&#8217;s lower house.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the United Left (IU), part of the far-left coalition Sumar, <a href=\"https:\/\/izquierdaunida.org\/2026\/05\/12\/iu-reclama-a-exteriores-en-el-congreso-que-explique-cuantas-veces-ha-condenado-ataques-de-marruecos-contra-poblacion-saharaui-o-en-los-que-ha-empleado-drones-de-procedencia-israeli\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">called on May 12<\/a> for the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide \u00abclarifications\u00bb regarding \u00abthe number of times it has condemned attacks by Morocco against the Sahrawi population or those involving Israeli-made drones.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>The United Left argues that the condemnation issued by Pedro S\u00e1nchez&#8217;s government \u00abreveals a bias detrimental to the future of the Sahrawi people and their sole legitimate representative, the Polisario Front.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the IU supported the Polisario&#8217;s decision to withdraw from the ceasefire, announced on November 13, 2020, following an operation by the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to reopen the El Guerguerat crossing, which had been blocked for weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Madrid condemned the projectile attack on May 5 in Semara and urged for continued political efforts under the United Nations&#8217; guidance.
