HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TNND) \u2014 Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claimed Tuesday that President Donald Trump\u2019s health is taking a turn for the worse.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s flood of overnight social media posts, some of which are nonsensical, shows the 79-year-old’s mental health is failing during a critical period for the country\u2019s foreign and domestic affairs, according to the lawmaker.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is what he\u2019s doing ahead of a hugely consequential meeting with Xi Jinping while inflation soars out of control,\u201d Schumer wrote <\/a>on X. \u201cHe is unwell. And getting worse by the day.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump mostly shared conspiracy theories about his political opponents in his posts, although he also promoted false claims about 2020 election fraud<\/a>. He posted similar content Tuesday morning but sprinkled in remarks about the economy, which has weathered persistent inflation.<\/p>\n A White House spokesman pushed back on Schumer\u2019s claims, telling The National News Desk in a statement that the senator is a \u201cstupid person\u2019s idea of a smart person.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cPresident Trump\u2019s sharpness, unmatched energy, and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw during the past four years when Democrats like Schumer intentionally covered up Joe Biden\u2019s serious mental and physical decline from the American people,\u201d spokesman Davis Ingle said.<\/p>\n Trump, his allies and other Republicans have claimed for years that former President Joe Biden\u2019s health suffered over the course of his term, an accusation Biden and Democrats have rejected.<\/p>\n The scrutiny of the ex-president’s well-being has shifted to his successor<\/a>, whose critics have claimed is unfit to serve. Last month, dozens of them called for Trump\u2019s removal, through the 25th Amendment or otherwise, after the president threatened in a Truth Social post<\/a> to destroy an entire Iranian civilization.<\/p>\n \u201cDonald Trump’s instability is more clear and dangerous than ever,\u201d Representative Nancy Pelosi, a key player in past Democratic impeachment efforts, wrote <\/a>on X. \u201cIf the Cabinet is not willing to invoke the 25th Amendment and restore sanity, Republicans must reconvene the Congress to end this war.\u201d<\/p>\n Trump defended his threat, telling Fox News days later that it forced Iran to negotiate.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat have they said [to] us? For years, I\u2019ve had to listen to them say, \u2018Death to America,\u2019 right?\u201d the president added. \u201cThey say, \u2018Death to America, death to Israel. America\u2019s a Satan. We will destroy America. Death to America.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The Trump administration has yet to reach a deal with Tehran, which has been hostile to Washington for years. Trump will likely discuss the war with Chinese President Xi Jinping during their meeting this week, along with economic matters that have strained global markets.<\/p>\n
