{"id":6949,"date":"2026-04-03T15:53:37","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T15:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/6949\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T15:53:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T15:53:37","slug":"microsofts-nadella-not-happy-with-copilot-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/6949\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft\u2019s Nadella Not Happy With Copilot Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft<\/a> CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/satyanadella\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Satya Nadella<\/a> is reportedly unhappy with an element of his company\u2019s artificial intelligence (AI) progress.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/microsofts-nadella-pressures-deputies-accelerate-copilot-improvements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">report<\/a> Monday (Dec. 22) from The Information, citing an in-house email reviewed by the publication.<\/p>\n<p>That message was from Nadella to Microsoft engineers working on a consumer version of the company\u2019s artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Copilot. A manager on the email thread pointed out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Google<\/a> Gemini\u2019s progress in connecting that chatbot to Google Drive for certain tasks.<\/p>\n<p>Nadella, however, seemed unhappy with the way Microsoft\u2019s version of that technology had performed thus far, saying that the company\u2019s programs for connecting Copilot with Gmail and Outlook \u201cfor [the] most part don\u2019t really work\u201d and are \u201cnot smart,\u201d the report added.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Microsoft declined to comment when reached by PYMNTS.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Information, the last few months have seen the CEO become Microsoft\u2019s \u201cmost influential product manager,\u201d telling employees in September that he would delegate some duties as he focused more on the company\u2019s AI products.<\/p>\n<p>    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Google-PYMNTS-blackbox.svg\" alt=\"Preferred Source\" class=\"img-fluid\" width=\"262\" height=\"147\"\/><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019d love to be your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=pymnts.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">preferred source for news<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please add us to your preferred sources list so our news, data and interviews show up in your feed. He also holds a weekly hourlong meeting with many of those same workers, grilling them about their jobs, said a source who had listened to those meetings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wants to minimize his distractions to stay focused on what Microsoft needs to do for AI,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.madrona.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Madrona Venture Group<\/a> managing partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/s-somasegar-113791a5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">S. Somasegar<\/a>, a former Microsoft executive and friend of Nadella.<\/p>\n<p>In other Microsoft news, PYMNTS wrote Monday about the company\u2019s views on AI in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/aws-and-microsoft-present-agentic-ais-banking-business-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">banking sector<\/a> following a recent blog post in which it argued that financial services firms are entering a decisive phase in AI adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Within that phase, the company argued, success is less about experimentation and more to do with reconfiguring core business processes around agentic AI.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft points to an IDC study it had commissioned that showed that firms that embed AI agents but still keep <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/artificial-intelligence\/2025\/visa-maps-a-path-to-agentic-commerce-that-feels-familiar-and-safe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">humans in the loop<\/a> are seeing returns on AI investments roughly three times greater than slower adopters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMicrosoft identifies five predictors for AI success in 2026: anchoring AI initiatives to value creation, building AI fluency across the workforce, expanding innovation across multiple business functions, embedding responsible AI and regulatory readiness as competitive advantages, and modernizing data foundations to support scale.<\/p>\n<p>The company also spotlighted \u201creal-world examples, from insurers using AI agents to resolve large volumes of customer calls autonomously to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/artificial-intelligence-2\/2025\/ais-move-from-banking-back-offices-to-balance-sheets-warrants-caution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">banks investing<\/a> heavily in skilling programs that drive daily AI usage,\u201d PYMNTS added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is reportedly unhappy with an element of his company\u2019s artificial intelligence (AI) progress.
