BUDAPEST, May 13 (Reuters) – Hungary has summoned Russia’s ambassador over a drone attack on \u200cwestern Ukraine, Prime Minister Peter Magyar \u200csaid on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Russia unleashed a daytime drone attack on Ukraine \u200bearlier on Wednesday, targeting critical infrastructure and killing at least three people in the west and prompting NATO-member Poland to scramble fighter jets.<\/p>\n
The \u200cRussian ambassador has \u2060been summoned to the foreign ministry on Thursday morning to meet foreign \u2060minister Anita Orban, Magyar said during a press conference following the first cabinet meeting of the \u200bnew Hungarian \u200bgovernment.<\/p>\n
Orban will condemn \u200bthe attack at the \u200cmeeting and ask the ambassador when Russia plans to end the more than four-year-old war with Ukraine, he added.<\/p>\n
Earlier on Wednesday, Orban said in a Facebook video that Hungary “deeply condemns” Russian \u200cdrone strikes on ethnic \u200bHungarian regions in western Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Russia’s \u200bembassy in \u200bBudapest did not immediately respond to \u200ca Reuters request for comment.<\/p>\n
Former \u200bHungarian Prime \u200bMinister Viktor Orban’s government maintained a close relationship with Moscow even after Russia’s invasion \u200bof Ukraine \u200cin 2022.<\/p>\n
