President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan<\/a> arrived in Kazakhstan<\/a> on May 13 for talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as Ankara and Astana seek to deepen their strategic partnership.<\/p>\n

Erdo\u011fan traveled to Astana to attend the T\u00fcrkiye-Kazakhstan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting and the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States, according to T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Communications Directorate.<\/p>\n

The visit<\/a> is expected to focus on bilateral ties as well as cooperation in energy, transport, trade and defense industry.<\/p>\n

Erdo\u011fan was accompanied by first lady Emine Erdo\u011fan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Ya\u015far G\u00fcler, Education Minister Yusuf Tekin, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kac\u0131r and Trade Minister \u00d6mer Bolat.<\/p>\n

Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, AKP Deputy Chairman K\u00fcr\u015fad Zorlu and presidential foreign policy and security adviser Akif \u00c7a\u011fatay K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7 were also in the delegation.<\/p>\n

Erdo\u011fan and Tokayev are expected to chair the sixth meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, where the current state and future of bilateral relations will be discussed.<\/p>\n

Transport links through the Middle Corridor, Caspian transit routes, energy security, logistics and defense industry cooperation are among the issues expected to be reviewed.<\/p>\n

The economic agenda includes the two countries\u2019 target of raising bilateral trade volume to $15 billion, as well as potential cooperation in energy and investment.<\/p>\n

The leaders are also expected to attend a T\u00fcrkiye-Kazakhstan business forum with representatives from both countries.<\/p>\n

Erdo\u011fan will later travel to Turkistan to attend the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States on May 15. The summit will be hosted by Kazakhstan under the theme \u201cArtificial Intelligence and Digital Development.\u201d<\/p>\n
