The United Arab Emirates denied Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu paid a secret visit<\/a> to the Persian Gulf nation, after the Israeli leader\u2019s office released a statement about the trip.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe United Arab Emirates denies all circulating reports with regard to a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the UAE, or any Israeli military entourage on UAE soil,\u201d the UAE Foreign Ministry posted on X.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe UAE would like to emphasize that its relations with Israel are crystal clear and were established within the clear framework determined by the Abraham Accords \u2014 meaning they are not conducted through secretive back-channeling,\u201d the ministry added.<\/p>\n

The Abraham Accords<\/a> were agreements signed during US President Donald Trump\u2019s previous term, under which the UAE and and Bahrain normalized relations with Israel. Expanding the Abraham accords to include other Arab states has been a top foreign policy goal for the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

The Emirati Foreign Ministry stressed that \u201callegations regarding unannounced visits or arrangements are not rooted in truth by any means\u201d unless announced through official UAE channels.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu\u2019s office said earlier today that the prime minister made a \u201ccovert visit\u201d to the UAE during the US-Israel war with Iran and met with Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Netanyahu\u2019s office said the visit yielded a \u201chistoric breakthrough\u201d in relations between the two countries. It did not say when the visit occurred or elaborate on the reported breakthrough.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post before the UAE\u2019s denial, Netanyahu\u2019s former chief of staff, Ziv Agmon, said he accompanied the prime minister on that trip and that Netanyahu was \u201creceived in Abu Dhabi with royal honors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the visit announcement, Iran threatened to hold those \u201ccolluding with Israel\u201d to account.<\/p>\n
