{"id":71294,"date":"2026-05-14T17:48:16","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T17:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/71294\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T17:48:16","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T17:48:16","slug":"vladimir-putin-demands-former-uk-defence-secretary-ben-wallace-is-arrested-for-justifying-terrorism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/71294\/","title":{"rendered":"Vladimir Putin demands former UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace is arrested for &#8216;justifying terrorism&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Russia has issued an arrest warrant for the British former Defence Secretary for allegedly &#8220;justifying terrorism&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Sir Ben Wallace, who served in the role under Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, was sentenced in absentia by Moscow\u2019s Basmanny district court. <\/p>\n<p>The charges are believed to be linked to comments made by the former Tory minister at a security conference in Poland in September. <\/p>\n<p>Addressing the Warsaw Security Forum, Sir Ben said: \u201cPutin is in love with the idea of dominating Ukraine, so we have to help Ukraine have the long-range capabilities to make Crimea unviable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The ex-Defence Secretary urged Western allies to &#8220;choke the life&#8221; out of Crimea &#8211; which was annexed by Vladimir Putin&#8217;s forces in 2014. <\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;We need to smash the Kerch Bridge, because that\u2019s a statue to Putin\u2019s ego.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Kerch Bridge is a 12-mile-long dual-span road and railway bridge, which physically connects the occupied territory to the Russian mainland. <\/p>\n<p>It was inaugurated by Mr Putin in 2018 and is widely considered a physical representation of Moscow&#8217;s grip on the peninsula. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"d8d84\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"e21db7dd1b98e089a28b32307e8c526b\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%205000%203335'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/ben-wallace.jpg\" width=\"5000\" height=\"3335\" alt=\"Ben Wallace\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Sir Ben Wallace was sentenced in absentia by Moscow\u2019s Basmanny district court<\/p>\n<p> | GETTY<\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin strongly condemned Sir Ben&#8217;s remarks at the conference, branding them &#8220;foolish&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>The Russian Foreign Ministry took an even sterner view &#8211; claiming they were an \u201cincitement to terrorism\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Sir Ben had already been ordered to be placed in pre-trial detention in absentia by a Russian court in November &#8211; but the directive was only made public this week. <\/p>\n<p>He joins a growing list of around 200 Western officials to have active arrest warrants against them from the Russian state. <\/p>\n<p>                RUSSIA &#8211; and an &#8220;extremist&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>The Kremlin attack dog also called on any cooperative third nation to extradite him if he were to step foot on their territory. <\/p>\n<p>During a live broadcast, he said: &#8220;So that if an opportunity arises to capture him&#8230;
