Google co-founder Sergey Brin is buying a $50 million oceanfront home on Miami Beach\u2019s Allison Island \u2014 but he won\u2019t be able to dock his $450 million megayacht Dragonfly there.<\/p>\n

The new-construction dwelling was completed in 2019, according to city records. At just under 10,000 square feet, the property comes with 200 feet on the ocean and sits on just under an acre.<\/p>\n

The double lot is impressive, but the yacht \u2014 at 466 feet long \u2014 is more than double the width of the property.<\/p>\n

Brin\u2019s offer for the Allison Road home was first reported<\/a> in the Real Deal. It has since been accepted, although the deal has not closed, sources told Gimme.<\/p>\n

This purchase comes shortly after Brin\u2019s deal for a second Malibu home<\/a>, bringing his total holdings there up to $85 million, as Gimme Shelter reported exclusively last week.<\/p>\n

Brin\u2019s Miami purchase also comes as California billionaires are scampering around Miami in search of new digs in the wake of a proposed tax on California billionaires, lured by Florida\u2019s lack of state income tax. Billionaires who already live in Florida include Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel and Ken Griffin.<\/p>\n

That said, this news also follows reports that Brin\u2019s Google co-founder, Larry Page, has bought several homes in Coconut Grove \u2014 about a 30 to 40 minute car ride away \u2014 for nine figures<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Allison Island seller is LVMH Americas chairman and CEO Michael Burke, who bought the property as a teardown for $11.7 million in 2014.\u00a0Because the home was never officially on the market \u2014\u00a0 although it has been circulating as a \u201cwhisper listing\u201d \u2014 there are no publicly available interior listing photos.<\/p>\n

Brokers who toured the property, however, told Gimme that it comes with a lovely \u201cGuggenheim style\u201d architectural staircase. There\u2019s also a lot of wall space set up to display art.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a fine home, but nothing super special, and not nearly nice enough for one of the world\u2019s richest people,\u201d a source said. \u201cEveryone in town is talking about the deal, but no\u00a0one thinks he will stay here. It\u2019s like a flop house \u2014 not a home for one of the wealthiest people in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, it does come with a lot of land.<\/p>\n

Most homes in the exclusive neighborhood sit on one third to half an acre, which means that Brin will have more privacy than usual for the area.<\/p>\n
