There\u2019s an unauthorized documentary on top art dealer\u00a0Larry Gagosian\u00a0in the works, Page Six Hollywood has learned.<\/p>\n

Barry Avrich\u00a0\u2014 the director behind the hit Netflix doc \u201cMade You Look: A True Story About Fake Art\u201d \u2014 is training his lens on mega-gallerist Gagosian.<\/p>\n

Avirich, who was also behind the art doc \u201cBlurred Lines\u201d \u2014 following blue-chip artists such as\u00a0Damien Hirst, Marina Abramovi\u0107\u00a0and\u00a0Rashid Johnson\u00a0\u2014 is now prepping the \u201cdeep dive doc on the elusive gallery titan,\u201d sources say.<\/p>\n

It has the ominous-sounding title, \u201cShadow Man: Inside The Secret World of Larry Gagosian,\u201d and we\u2019re told that, \u201cformer employees and artists are lining up to tell their juicy Larry stories and scoop on the inner workings of the Gagosian empire.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rep did not comment when we reached out. Though it seems Gagosian\u2019s inner-circle is so far unaware of the doc. Either way, we imagine that Gagosian may be working the phones today to see who\u2019s talkin\u2019 for the film.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Avrich has directed docs on subjects including Hollywood legend Lew Wasserman, composer\u00a0David Foster, disgraced distributor\u00a0Harvey Weinstein, comics\u00a0David Steinberg\u00a0and\u00a0Howie Mandel, jazz icon\u00a0Oscar Peterson\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n

Gagosian, who regularly rubs elbows with stars from\u00a0Mick Jagger\u00a0to\u00a0Leo DiCaprio\u00a0and has a client list including\u00a0David Geffen, Steve Cohen\u00a0and\u00a0Leon Black\u00a0opened his first art space in LA in 1980, and now has 18 glamorous galleries around the world.<\/p>\n

His stable of artists includes Hirst as well as a list way too long to mention here, including\u00a0John Currin,\u00a0Urs Fischer,\u00a0Theaster Gates,\u00a0Mark Grotjahn,\u00a0Sally Mann, Takashi Murakami,\u00a0Richard Prince,\u00a0Ed Ruscha,\u00a0Taryn Simon,\u00a0Rudolf Stingel,\u00a0Jeff Wall,\u00a0Mary Weatherford,\u00a0Jonas Wood\u00a0and many more.<\/p>\n

Gagosian told Cultured in 2021: \u201cPeople see me as a hard-charging, aggressive, business-oriented, money-oriented person. And it\u2019s all true. But I really love art. I really love working with artists. My favorite day is going to artist studios. Maybe people don\u2019t see that, but that\u2019s OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

A New Yorker profile in 2023 pointed out: \u201cThe dealer has been so successful selling art to masters of the universe that he has become one of them,\u201d and, \u201cGagosian is not a household name for most Americans, but among the famous and the wealthy \u2014 and particularly among the very wealthy \u2014 he is a figure of colossal repute.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
