WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 Republicans in the Senate are advising President Donald Trump not to conduct military strikes in Cuba amid the Iran war.<\/a><\/p>\n

GOP members of the Senate say that Trump shouldn\u2019t be starting another military conflict in 2026 as it\u2019s the year of midterms and many voters aren\u2019t in favor the Iran war, according to The Hill newspaper.<\/a><\/p>\n

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said earlier this week that the main focus should be making sure the Strait of Hormuz is opened.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think right now we\u2019re focused on where we are and that is trying to get the Strait of Hormuz opened up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Following the U.S. and Israel conducting joint strikes on Iran over concerns that the country had missiles, Iran closed down the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

Trump recently proposed a ceasefire deal, but Trump shot it down.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unbelievably weak \u2014 one of the weakest I\u2019ve seen. It\u2019s on life support,\u201d Trump told reporters on Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n

Thune said while he wants the socialist government of Cuba to fall, he wants it to happen \u201corganically.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d love to see regime change, we all would, in Cuba,\u201d he stated. \u201cMaybe that happens just by force of events. I think things are happening around the world putting more pressure on a lot of these dictatorial-type governments.
