The Trump family is clamoring to contain a MAGA revolt over their latest business venture.<\/a><\/p>\n

Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.\u2019s phone company announced that its first smartphone will ship to customers this week\u2014following a revolt from those who paid for the T-1 smartphone under the guise that it would be delivered in August.<\/p>\n

Nearly 600,000 people paid a $100 deposit for the Trump mobile device, a venture launched in June by Trump\u2019s two oldest sons. A year on, the T-1\u2019s release has been delayed several times, initially pushed from August to October, then again with no definite release date.<\/p>\n

As backlash erupted on social media, Trump Mobile CEO Pat O\u2019Brien told USA Today<\/a> on Wednesday that phones would soon begin shipping to customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose delays were worth it in our minds as we are delivering an amazing product,\u201d O\u2019Brien told the outlet. He added that all customers who paid a deposit for the $499 gold phone would receive their device within the next few weeks. Trump Mobile did not respond to multiple requests for comment from The Daily Beast.<\/p>\n

Even if true, that\u2019s still too little, too late for some MAGA loyalists.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey, Trump supporter here,\u201d one man said in a now-viral TikTok video from earlier this month. \u201cThis one goes out to Don Jr. and Eric\u2026where the f\u2013k\u2019s my phone? I ordered three, no four gold Trump phones in the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear what\u2019s behind the T-1\u2019s lengthy delays. Top executives last year chalked it up<\/a> to the \u201cgovernment shutdown,\u201d which ended in November (except for a partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security that stretched into 2026).<\/p>\n

The delay could also partly be related to Don Jr. and Eric\u2019s proclamation last year that the phone would be manufactured in the United States, with \u201cMADE IN AMERICA\u201d initially displayed on the company\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

Just days after that bold statement, the president\u2019s sons quickly backtracked. The phrase was quietly scrubbed from the website and replaced with the more modest claim that the phone was \u201cbrought to life right here in the USA\u201d with \u201cAmerican hands.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the T1 is being marketed as \u201cdesigned with American values in mind,\u201d \u201cshaped by American innovation,\u201d and backed by \u201cAmerican teams helping guide design and quality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another contributing factor could potentially be Trump Mobile\u2019s leaders\u2014none of whom<\/a> have a background in smartphones.<\/p>\n

Little is known about Trump Mobile CEO O\u2019Brien. It\u2019s reported that his previous experience was at Omega Auto Care, part of the Missouri-based insurance company Ensurety Ventures. Bizarrely, Ensurety Ventures handles Trump Mobile customer service\u2014even though the company is headquartered in Trump Tower in Miami.<\/p>\n

In a June news release announcing the phone company\u2014which launched on the tenth anniversary of Donald Trump\u2019s presidential campaign announcement\u2014Don Jr. bragged that \u201cTrump Mobile is going to change the game, we\u2019re building on the movement to put America first, and we will deliver the highest levels of quality and service.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prices start at $47.45 per month, an homage to their father\u2019s two presidential terms.
