WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 Vice President JD Vance, who is leading the Trump administration’s anti-fraud task force, said that 780 “fraudulent hospice centers” have been shut down by the federal government.<\/p>\n
Vance told Fox News\u2019s “Saturday in America” that local officials were allegedly either ignoring or enabling fraud, the Washington Examiner reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, we just have to prosecute as much as we can and we have to accept that, yes, there are going to be some blue states that fight us. But that doesn\u2019t mean we can\u2019t do our job. And for every person that slips through the cracks because of a crooked judge, we\u2019re going to get 10 people who actually go to prison or suffer real consequences for it and we\u2019re also saving the American people a lot of money,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can have a fraudster, you can have them dead to rights, you can have them literally in a text message confessing to the crime but sometimes you\u2019re still going to have corrupt judges,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Vance said the Trump administration anticipated that judges in Democratic-led states would push back, and is working on legal strategies to pursue prosecutions in jurisdictions that are likely to be more favorable.<\/p>\n He noted that some cases may not move forward, but federal officials still expect to bring a substantial number of prosecutions.<\/p>\n \u201cThe fraud is right there for everybody to see. We closed down 800 fraudulent hospice centers. If you\u2019re running a business and the federal government closes down your main source of revenue, do you write a letter? Do you make a phone call? Seven hundred and eighty of those we\u2019ve closed down, we haven\u2019t even heard a single thing from anybody. That\u2019s how bad the fraud is,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n He also suggested that federal officials are examining whether anyone in Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom\u2019s office allowed fraud<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I hear a report that says to the governor, \u2018here\u2019s all this fraud and he doesn\u2019t do anything about it,\u2019 I ask myself, \u2018was anybody engaged in criminal wrongdoing? Was anybody in his office engaged in criminal wrongdoing?\u2019 Again, I\u2019m not going to say yes, but I am going to promise the American people,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n
