Melania Trump<\/a> is being blamed by insiders and observers for Barron Trump<\/a>\u2019s distant relationship with his four older half-siblings.<\/p>\n

The most direct allegation appeared in reporting by columnist Rob Shuter on Substack<\/a>, where an unnamed insider claimed Melania \u201cwanted [Barron\u2019s 20th birthday celebration] to be about Barron \u2014 not about Donald Trump<\/a> and not about his other children.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the report, only Tiffany Trump<\/a> was invited. The insider added that Melania \u201chas always kept Barron at a distance from his brothers and sisters,\u201d citing the age gaps and the fact that Barron \u201cdidn\u2019t grow up with them in the same way.\u201d<\/p>\n

A 12\u2011year minimum age gap<\/p>\n

Donald has five children from three relationships. IvankaTrump<\/a>, Donald Jr. Trump<\/a> and Eric Trump<\/a> were born during his first marriage to Ivana Trump<\/a>. Tiffany was born during his relationship with Marla Maples<\/a>. Barron, born March 20, 2006, is his only child with Melania, making him at least 12 years younger than Tiffany and more than two decades younger than Don Jr.<\/p>\n

\u201cBarron didn\u2019t grow up with them in the same way,\u201d a source told Shuter. \u201cThere isn\u2019t a real bond there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The other children were already adults, some with their own families, while Barron was still in elementary school. They did not share a household or formative upbringing.<\/p>\n

Melania\u2019s tight grip on Barron\u2019s world<\/p>\n

Those close to the family say Melania has kept Barron\u2019s upbringing tightly centered on her and her side of the family, rather than fostering closeness with his half-siblings.<\/p>\n

In written answers to USA Today published ahead of Mother\u2019s Day, Melania described Barron\u2019s close bond with her late mother, Amalija Knavs<\/a>, who died in January 2024 at age 78.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother and Barron had a distinct bond, beginning with her gentle embrace,\u201d Melania wrote<\/a>. \u201cWhen Barron was young, they often cuddled, played Barron\u2019s favorite games and read books together. I would often hear their laughter and personally felt their joy, knowing they were creating unforgettable memories together. Their connection was so magical.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said her mother helped shape Barron\u2019s Slovenian identity through food, language and family stories. \u201cMy mother was the epitome of love and warmth,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

The Eric Trump incident<\/p>\n

Tensions surfaced in late 2025 after Eric discussed Barron on \u201cThe Megyn Kelly Show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eric said<\/a>, \u201cOne night I call Barron and I go, \u2018Buddy, look, what did you actually say?\u2019 And he goes, it was something so polite I almost wouldn\u2019t even get it right \u2014 \u2018Congratulations and best of luck to you,\u2019 or something like that, something very respectful.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cHe just doesn\u2019t have that in him, he\u2019s a nice guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melania was reportedly angered not by the rumor itself but by Eric\u2019s decision to speak publicly about Barron. According to RadarOnline<\/a>, a source said, \u201cMelania does not want Barron discussed. Ever. She told Eric to shut his mouth. She protects that boy like a lioness.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ivanka\u2019s repeated exclusions<\/p>\n

When Melania premiered her Amazon MGM documentary at the Kennedy Center on January 29, 2026 \u2014 a nearly two-hour film covering the 20 days leading up to Donald\u2019s second inauguration \u2014 Ivanka was notably absent.<\/p>\n

According to insiders who spoke to Shuter, the exclusion was intentional. \u201cMelania wants this night all to herself,\u201d one source said<\/a>. \u201cWhen the spotlight\u2019s this dim, no one\u2019s sharing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

A second source added, \u201cIt\u2019s Melania, front and center, no interruptions. She\u2019s drawing a line. Ivanka knows her place.\u201d<\/p>\n

None of Melania\u2019s four stepchildren appeared meaningfully in the documentary. Ivanka reportedly appears only briefly in background inauguration footage, according to a viewer.<\/p>\n

Donald, however, has publicly presented a more unified family image. In a televised interview on Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson, he described all five children as \u201cpopular\u201d and suggested Barron could one day enter politics.<\/p>\n

Barron, now 20 and enrolled at New York University, remains largely out of the public eye.
