WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG\/WECP) – On Wednesday, Lulu\u2019s Law passed in the U.S. House and is now heading to President Trump\u2019s desk to be signed. <\/p>\n
Lulu Gribbon posted the news on her Instagram<\/a>, saying she couldn\u2019t be prouder of this moment. <\/p>\n Almost two years ago, Gribbon was attacked by a shark in Walton County <\/a>while visiting the area on vacation. Another shark attack had happened the same day, just miles away from her location.<\/p>\n Her law will authorize local, state, tribal, and federal government authorities to quickly deploy geofenced warnings via the Wireless Emergency Alert System to the public if a shark has attacked someone. <\/p>\n The bipartisan legislation was first introduced in the Senate in July of 2024 and passed in July of 2025. <\/p>\n U.S. Senator Katie Britt represents Alabama and has supported the legislation from the start. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m thrilled that Lulu\u2019s Law has passed the House with overwhelming support after passing the Senate last July, and I\u2019m especially thankful to Representative Gary Palmer who helped usher this important legislation through the House Energy and Commerce Committee and to the House floor for a full vote. After working to get this law passed for over a year, I\u2019m proud we were able to deliver in honor of Lulu\u2019s story, which is a tale of incredible courage and perseverance. Lulu\u2019s Law will soon be signed into federal statute and as a result, families and beachgoers will be safer.
