Bruce Springsteen took center stage at Stephen Colbert\u2019s penultimate \u201cLate Show\u201d on Wednesday, wasting no time to bash his familiar foe, President Trump, along with CBS parent company Paramount Skydance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m here in support tonight for Stephen, because you\u2019re the first guy in America who\u2019s lost his show because we\u2019ve got a president who can\u2019t take a joke,\u201d Springsteen told the crowd seconds after being introduced.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd uh, because Larry and David Ellison feel they need to kiss his ass to get what they want,\u201d The Boss added \u2014 referring to the CEO of Paramount and his son<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Springsteen performed \u201cStreets of Minneapolis,\u201d which he released as a criticism of Trump\u2019s immigration policies after two anti-ICE protesters were fatally shot by federal agents in January. CBS<\/p>\n

The 76-year-old rock legend then performed \u201cStreets of Minneapolis,\u201d a track he released in January dedicated to Alex Pretti and Renee Good<\/a>, anti-ICE protesters who were killed during the Trump administration\u2019s immigration enforcement operations in the city.<\/p>\n

Trump, a frequent critic of Colbert and Springsteen, has yet to remark on the performance. <\/p>\n

Colbert\u2019s nearly 11-year \u201cLate Show\u201d run will come to a close on Thursday, after more than 1,800 episodes on CBS since he took over from David Letterman\u2019s nearly two-decade reign in 2015.<\/p>\n

CBS parent Paramount was sold to Skydance for $8.4 billion in August 2025 after a long, messy negotiation process. David Ellison, the former CEO of Skydance Media, was named CEO of Paramount Skydance after the merger.<\/p>\n

President Trump last year called Colbert \u201ca pathetic trainwreck, with no talent or anything else necessary for show business success\u201d \u2014 and The Boss has also been in his crosshairs in recent months. Getty Images<\/p>\n

The move came a month after CBS announced its plan to cancel \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

The network has denied that political motivations fueled the decision, maintaining that the move was purely financial, given the show\u2019s reported $40 million annual loss.<\/p>\n

Critics, including Letterman and fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, have remained skeptical of the reasoning, particularly given Paramount\u2019s efforts to secure regulatory approval for the Skydance deal.<\/p>\n

Trump has long celebrated the cancellation of Colbert\u2019s show. <\/p>\n
