Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on Thursday urged people to avoid using Chevron Corp. gas stations, saying that name-brand gas could lead drivers to overpay at the pump amid surging fuel costs and the war in Iran.<\/p>\n

In a post on X, Newsom\u2019s official Press Office handle urged California residents to \u201cavoid Chevron\u201d if they planned on driving \u201cthis holiday weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n
The post then shared a \u201cpro tip\u201d about gasoline in the U.S. \u201cUnbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines,\u201d the post said.<\/p>\n
