{"id":8718,"date":"2026-04-04T11:23:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T11:23:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/8718\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T11:23:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T11:23:21","slug":"poland-faces-millions-in-eu-fines-as-president-vetoes-tech-bill-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/people\/8718\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland faces millions in EU fines as president vetoes tech bill \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deputy Digital Minister Dariusz Standerski said in a TV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2c1PEN303bA&amp;t=1s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">interview<\/a> that, &#8220;since the president decided to veto this law, I&#8217;m assuming he is also willing to have these costs [of a potential fine] charged to the budget of the President\u2019s Office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nawrocki&#8217;s refusal to sign the bill brings back bad memories of Warsaw&#8217;s years-long clash with Brussels over the rule of law, a conflict that began when Nawrocki&#8217;s Law and Justice party rose to power in 2015 and started reforming the country&#8217;s courts and regulators.
