\n\tEveryone knows Donald Trump<\/a> changes his mind on a dime, but it looks like Sean \u201cDiddy<\/a>\u201d Combs will not be receiving a pardon from his old buddy after all.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a wide-ranging sit-down with the New York Times<\/a>, who kept leaked news of the administration\u2019s New Year\u2019s plan to snatch Venezuela\u2019s Nicol\u00e1s Maduro\u00a0under wraps, the former Apprentice host spilled that the much accused and currently incarcerated Combs reached out in writing seeking clemency.<\/p>\n

\n\tTrump said Combs \u201casked me for a pardon \u2026 through a letter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAsked in the Oval Office interview about the timing of the correspondence from the \u201cAll About the Benjamins\u201d performer, who was sentence October 3 to four years behind bars and $500,000 in fines after his July 2 conviction on\u00a0two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution<\/a>,\u00a0Trump quipped, \u201cOh, would you like to see that letter?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTypically, Trump did not actually show the letter to the NYT reporters but did tell them he was not considering a pardon for Combs. Not that this was the first time Trump brought up Combs wanting his help. During\u00a0a freewheeling October 6 press conference<\/a>, Trump proclaimed: \u00a0\u201cI call him\u00a0Puff Daddy<\/a>. He has asked me for a pardon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA few weeks later, Trump had significantly cooled <\/a>to granting Combs the break he sought. \u201cIt was always going to be a long shot if he would grant the pardon or not,\u201d a person close to events told Deadline.<\/p>\n

\n\tToday, Diddy\u2019s team had no comment on Trump\u2019s letter revelation and the status of any pardon when contacted by Deadline. <\/p>\n

\n\tEven before the verdict over Combs\u2019 \u201cfreak-offs\u201d-fueled trial, which saw the Bad Boys Records founder acquitted\u00a0on sex-trafficking and racketeer charges, a pardon had been both hoped for and a possibility from POTUS. Certainly the fact that the lead prosecutor on Diddy\u2019s case was Maurene Comey, the now-fired daughter of Trump foe and ex-FBI director James Comey, played into Trump\u2019s grievance and persecution mentality.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs Deadline exclusively reported back in late July, Trump has been\u00a0\u201cseriously considering\u201d<\/a>\u00a0a presidential pass for Combs. Later, citing criticism from Diddy during his first term, Trump\u00a0walked back<\/a>\u00a0the idea of giving who he called the \u201chalf-innocent\u201d Combs a pardon. Attorneys for Combs confirmed they had attempted to gain the White House\u2019s favor.<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, despite outcry from the likes of Megyn Kelly<\/a> and outrage from Combs\u2019 enemy and Sean Combs: The Reckoning<\/a> EP Curtis \u201c50 Cent\u201d Jackson, Trump never totally dropped the notion of a pardon, multiple sources told me. However, in the chaos of Trump 2.0, a deal was never sealed.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs it stands, with a fast-tracked appeal on the runway for this spring, Diddy is now set to be released from the low-security Fort Dix in New Jersey on May 25, 2028. <\/a><\/p>\n
