It is just dropping in terms of a date, by the way. Um, Apple is saying, uh, Tim Cook becomes executive chairman of Apple’s Board of Directors. John Turnis, senior VP of hardware engineering will become Apple’s next CEO. It’s effective on September 1st, 2026. What do you make of this news, Ross? <\/p>\n

I I just great news. It’s just great news. I I’ve been calling for this for months and months. I love Tim Cook. I I I’m not going to say a bad thing about the guy. He’s done a phenomenal job with Steve Jobs’s legacy, you know, and I I’ve been an Apple investor my whole life and when Steve Jobs passed in 2011, I think it was, it was it was a really difficult time and and clients were calling and I said, let’s give this Tim Cook a chance and and he’s just crushed it for us over these years. So thank you Tim for everything you’ve done. But I do think in the last several years, the innovation has gone to crap at Apple and it was like time for a change and I’ve been calling for this. I’m like in shock that it actually happened and they promoted, you know, I think the right guy to do this. He’s a he’s a young, smart, uh, long-term Apple executive and and hopefully can breathe some like new life into this business and and make it, you know, what I think Apple can be in this wonderful new AI era. <\/p>\n

You know, there’s different ways uh, Ross to grade uh, CEO’s performance. You know, you think of, you can grade him as a financial performance on a stock chart, on strategy. How would you grade Tim Cook? <\/p>\n

I I mean, I would give him an A across the board, even though I’m not happy with some of the innovation especially around AI in the last three to five years. But if you look at where he started and the products that he was given in their infancy, you know, a lot of the stuff was invented by Steve, but it was never like parsed out. It was never built out and he took that legacy and he and he made great products. I mean, even today, if you buy a new Apple laptop, it’s just amazing. And so they’ve done just a phenomenal job, but I think when they reached that sort of maximum of where the innovation from jobs ended and new innovation needed to be created, that’s where Tim sort of started to stumble and I think by resigning right now, that’s why I give him an A because he’s leaving on top, I think and and if you would have let this go on too much longer, Apple would have fallen behind. And so that’s why I give him an A and then on a financial performance, he’s made me a fortune. I I can’t I can’t complain, you know, and and we all use Apple and he’s managed to protect his reputation and also he’s managed to navigate the Trump era pretty well. I have to say because that’s no easy thing for a guy like Tim Cook. So, you know, as I said, I I’ve been very critical of him recently. Um, you know, and I have been calling for him to step down, so I am happy about it, but it’s certainly I’m not going to take anything away from what a great job he’s done. <\/p>\n

You know, you mentioned Trump there, Ross. I just want to get your thoughts on something because I was not too long ago, Ross, I was texting back and forth with another well-known Apple investor like yourself. Been in the stock a long time. Um and I asked <\/p>\n

kind of kind of help make my career to be honest. <\/p>\n

And I I asked this this this investor, Ross, I said, when do you think Tim will step down? And this investor told me, again, like yourself, Ross, he’s followed the company a long time. He knows the company backwards and forwards. He had told me, I don’t think Tim Cook steps down until 2028. And I said, why? And he said, because Tim Cook is the Trump whisperer. He has such a good relationship with Trump, with this administration. <\/p>\n

thought no way. No clearly it it wasn’t true. And I’m just curious what you make of that. <\/p>\n

I think he’s smart to leave now, you know, he he’s had to he’s had to give up a lot of ego to bring Trump that golden statue and and kind of stay in the good graces of Trump because he’s everything that Trump hates and and and just the same, you know, Tim’s all of his belief systems, I’m sure is everything he hates is Trump, you know, so he’s done a phenomenal job for Apple shareholders sort of like biting, you know, the bullet and doing what was best for Apple and not, you know, making his ideology Apple’s ideology. So I give him a lot of credit because I certainly wouldn’t have been able to do that.
