President Donald Trump said on Friday that Vice President JD Vance will focus on investigating fraud, particularly in Democrat-run states in his new role as \u201cfraud czar.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHis focus will be \u2018EVERYWHERE,\u2019 \u200bbut primarily in those Blue States,\u201d \u200bTrump said in a post on Truth \u2060Social, singling out California, Illinois, Minnesota, Maine \u200band New York. He said that \u201craids have already started\u201d in \u200bLos Angeles, where on Thursday federal prosecutors announced that eight people had been charged in separate cases \u200bfor trying to defraud the healthcare system out of $50 million.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said those cases \u200cwere \u2060pursued in coordination with Vance\u2019s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud. Vance touted the arrests in a social media post on Thursday, \u200bsaying the \u201ctask force \u200bisn\u2019t \u2060wasting any time cracking down on fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n
READ: Inside Vance\u2019s high-wire Iran strategy and his 2028 calculations<\/a> (March 29, 2026)<\/p>\n Trump also stated without evidence that the supposed amount of federal funds lost to fraud is \u201cso large\u201d that if Vance\u2019s efforts are successful they would \u201cliterally\u201d allow the U.S. to balance its budget. \u201cGood Luck JD!\u201d he added<\/a>.<\/p>\n Trump had already signed an executive order last month putting Vance in charge of what Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called<\/a> \u201canti-fraud task force\u201d which will \u201cinvestigate fraud across the country.\u201d Trump had also previously charged Vance with leading administration efforts to investigate fraud in Minnesota.<\/p>\n The task force will be chaired by the Vice President, with the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission serving as Vice Chair.
