ABU DHABI – Etihad Airways has expanded its European footprint with the launch of two new direct routes connecting Abu Dhabi with Kraków in Poland and Palma de Mallorca in Spain.
The new services, launched in June 2026, mark another step in the airline’s international growth strategy while strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a major global aviation hub.
The UAE’s national airline inaugurated flights to Kraków on 11 June and Palma de Mallorca on 12 June, with both routes operating three times weekly using the advanced Airbus A321LR aircraft. The additions bring new travel options for leisure and business passengers while offering seamless connections through Abu Dhabi to destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, India and Australia.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer at Etihad Airways, said the new routes reflected the airline’s ambitions in Europe and its focus on expanding travel opportunities for customers.
“Kraków and Palma de Mallorca are two of the continent’s most captivating destinations, and by connecting them directly to our home in Abu Dhabi we are opening new possibilities for leisure travellers, businesses and communities,” he said.
Polish expansion
The launch of Kraków marks Etihad’s latest move in the Polish market, following the introduction of services to Warsaw in June 2025. The new route provides Southern Poland with a direct premium long-haul connection to Abu Dhabi and expands access to Etihad’s wider global network.

Etihad is currently the only airline offering a First cabin between Kraków and the Gulf region, providing passengers with an elevated travel experience. The historic Polish city, known for its cultural heritage, medieval architecture and UNESCO-listed Old Town, now has a direct connection to Abu Dhabi.
Kraków’s attractions include the iconic Wawel Castle, historic streets, vibrant arts scene and renowned dining culture, making it one of Europe’s most popular destinations for international visitors. The new route is expected to support greater connectivity for travellers exploring both Poland and the UAE.
Mediterranean link
Just one day after launching its Kraków service, Etihad introduced its new route to Palma de Mallorca, creating the first direct connection between the Balearic Islands and the East. The service links Abu Dhabi with the capital of Spain’s Balearic Islands, opening a new gateway to Mallorca, Ibiza and the wider archipelago.
The route is operated by the Airbus A321LR, featuring private First suites and lie-flat Business seats designed for premium comfort. The aircraft offers an enhanced experience across all cabins, including high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity.
Palma de Mallorca combines Mediterranean scenery with centuries of history, from the famous La Seu Cathedral and the old town’s narrow streets to luxury marinas, coastal landscapes and local cuisine. The island’s beaches, secluded coves, hilltop villages and natural surroundings continue to attract visitors from around the world.
Premium experience
The Airbus A321LR brings a wide range of upgraded features to Etihad’s new routes. The aircraft’s First cabin includes two private suites with sliding doors, allowing passengers to dine, work and relax in a more private setting. The seats convert into fully flat beds and include features such as 20-inch 4K screens, wireless charging and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Business cabin offers 14 lie-flat seats, all positioned by the window with direct aisle access. Passengers also receive premium amenities and an enhanced dining experience during their journey.
The Economy cabin includes 144 ergonomically designed seats, each equipped with 4K touchscreens offering Etihad’s entertainment selection featuring films, programmes and other digital content.
