Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Ukraine must take steps to de-escalate tensions in its relations with Poland, and he has signals that Kyiv understands this.
He expressed this position during a press conference in Warsaw, evaluating the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations and today’s meeting of Foreign Ministers Andriy Sibiga and Radoslav Sikorsky.
I am receiving signals that the Ukrainian side is apparently waking up to the realization: it is worth seeking ways for an honest conversation also about the past, and not to escalate this tension. We shall see – this is probably a long process, but I am convinced that good Ukrainian-Polish relations serve mutual interests, yet require goodwill on Kyiv’s part. It can no longer be that only Warsaw demonstrates goodwill all the time.
