Consular statistics show only a tiny fraction of convictions among Ukrainians in northern Poland, raising doubt about claims of widespread criminality.
The claim that there is allegedly high crime among Ukrainian citizens in Poland is not supported by official data and is considered disinformation.
According to Svitlana Krysa, Ukraine’s Consul General in Gdańsk, the total number of convicted Ukrainian citizens in the Gdańsk consular district last year was about 400, and around 1,000 Ukrainians were detained by Polish authorities. These include theft, smuggling of prohibited goods, drug possession, and failure to comply with court rulings.
Taking into account that the total number of Ukrainians in the consular district of Gdańsk exceeds 400 thousand, crime among Ukrainians in the region represents only a small percentage – 0.01%. Therefore, the use by certain forces in Poland of the claim that a significant number of Ukrainians pose a threat to the country’s security is not supported by the figures, and this can be regarded as Russian disinformation

According to official sources, as of today, approximately 420,000 Ukrainian citizens live in four voivodeships in northern Poland.
The Ukrainian Consulate in Gdańsk has obtained the status of General Consulate of Ukraine since Saturday, March 28.
Thus, official data show that statements about high crime among Ukrainians in Poland do not reflect reality and belong to disinformation narratives spread by certain forces.
